Ivy Tech Community College built a new Automotive Technology Center on Indianapolis’ west side to expand workforce training for in-demand automotive and diesel careers. Designed for hands-on learning and modern vehicle technologies, the facility allows the program to double enrollment and better prepare students for today’s automotive workforce.
The former facility was landlocked, inefficient and limited enrollment to about 300 students. At the same time, Indiana’s automotive industry faced significant workforce shortages, with limited training capacity for students—many from low-income and minority backgrounds—who needed access to modern facilities.
“This new facility allows us to double our capacity and expand access to hands-on automotive and diesel training. Shawn and his team were key partners in securing New Markets Tax Credits, helping make this investment possible and move the project forward.”
